November 1, 2013 – Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet
There were three posters every teenage boy had in their bedroom when growing up in the 70’s. One was of Farrah Fawcett, the other of Led Zeppelin, and the third was of the back view of a Porsche 911 Turbo with that ludicrous whale-tail spoiler. Icon? You bet and it has been for 50 years now.
The flagship car for Porsche is the 911. It is iconic and for good reason. From the way it drives to the way it looks. The Porsche 911 is automotive history in motion. It is celebrating its 50th year in production and since day one it has only been produced in one place; Stuttgart Germany. The Porsche 911 Turbo S is the benchmark for the 911 and it’s what every 911 owner wishes to have someday.
There are few vehicles on the road as good-looking as the Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet. This car really is a work of art. With its large vent openings on either side, its beefy back end along with the fantastic whale-tail- spoiler it makes the Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet immediately recognizable.
For all its’ technical advancements, there are some principles from which Porsche will not deviate. Such as the 6 cylinder horizontally opposed rear engine. This is because the typical Porsche design and position of the drive train provides an excellent balance and minimal vehicle vibrations.
Now let’s talk numbers:
- 0-100 KPH in 3.2 seconds!
- 0-160 KPH in 7.1 seconds!
- 0-200 KPH in 10.8 seconds!
- A top speed of 317KMs!
- 560 horsepower!
- 516 lb-ft of torque!
My one complaint about this car: I don’t make enough money to own one.
Verdict: 5 out of 5
