July 2, 2013 – Q107 hosted a Canada Day picnic at Woodbine Park yesterday. Eight bands played covers of classic rock bands like Zeppelin, Floyd, Stones, Aerosmith, Chicago and many others. One of the most frequently covered bands on T-Mak World is Michael White and The White. It was one of White’s other projects, Animal House, Q107’s “house band” for all sorts of Q107 events, that led off the afternoon playing an assortment of summer songs like Sitting on the Dock of The Bay, Summer Breeze, Kokomo, Hot Fun in the Summertime, and many others, with White showing his versatility nailing all the different vocalists covered, including two by Robert Plant, D’yer Mak’er and Whole Lotta Love.
Little Foot Long Foot was the second band to play on the day but had the distinction of being the only band selected that actually played their own original material. Little Foot Long Foot is one of our favourite bands so we were curious to see how this particular line-up would sound.
Organist Jeff Heisholt is currently on tour with The Trews so couldn’t be part of this show. Last week they reverted to their original two-piece format for a show at Saving Gigi, but for Canada Day they expanded the line-up to four with the addition of White Cowbell Oklahoma’s Clem C Clemsen on guitar and vocals and South Pawl Jones on bass.
Clemson added great new colour and depth to songs and Jones more than made up for the missing organ laying down a groove a mile wide. Sadly with such a busy schedule on the day, LFLF’s set was short, just 6 songs of which three were great Zeppelin covers of The Immigrant Song, Out on The Tiles and How Many More Times. Joan also plays guitar for White Cowbell Oklahoma, who are about to head back to Europe for a bunch of shows there later this month but plans are in the works for more Little Foot Long Foot shows next month.

Toronto Jim says
Thought is was just going to be clone bands, might have come otherwise.
Michael is really versatile the way he can play all these different styles. Nice to see him playing guitar which you don’t see with the White.
Band that is opening on Friday looks interesting. Heavens Fire. Maybe he will let Time Giant open soon.
