April 7 2013 – Incredible musicianship was in full display on Friday April 5 2013 as Druckfarben delivered an earth shattering performance after a long delay from being on stage. If you are unfamiliar with Druckfarben we recommend you read our review of their debut CD here.
Druckfarben is a progressive rock band with complex rock compositions that would have been fit right in the mid 70’s. With layered music deep on keyboards and accentuated with Naro’s incredible talent one could easily believe they are listening to a Yes album from the previously mentioned era when listening to Druckfarben’s debut CD. This is not a band that is intimidated by music complexity, and take on some of the hardest songs ever played live head on. The amount of practice these guys must have put in for this gig is quite staggering. They also told us they are working on their sophomore album as well as a DVD, both of which do not have confirmed release dates as of yet. You can bet your farben that we will be among the first (if not THE first) website in the world to review these new offerings.
Tonight the band was able to flex not only their musical prowess on their fantastic original compositions but also dug deep into the prog rock archives and played songs from bands such as Yes, King Crimson, Gentle Giant, Genesis and even Rush. The sold out venue was taken for a ride unlike any other, and this show was a real treat for all in attendance. As great as the cover songs were, the major highlight of the show was the original Druckfarben songs and in fact we even got treated to the world premiere of a couple of new tunes.
We thoroughly enjoyed this show and will 100% recommend any future gigs by these guys. Do yourself a favor and listen to their original songs and be prepared to be blown away with the display of real musical talent. Each and every one of these guys are top in their fields in Toronto and we are incredibly glad they have found themselves on the same stage. Easily one of the best “bar” shows we have seen this year and a show that deserves to be played in front of thousands of fans.
Druckfarben are:

Ed Bernard – Guitar

We had a fun time trying to track the setlist because the band did not go with a script. We saw two versions of a setlist but in the end the guys just called out songs, gave each other a quick nod, and Feener usually gave a drum count to kick it off. Check out the variety that was presented tonight!

Hearing The Court of the Crimson King played live, note for note, was pretty mindblowing, but the original Druckfarben songs were the most exciting part of the night. Amazing gig guys!!
