PC Gaming was top of mind at the FX GamExperience |
Jan 21 2012 – Over 600 people converged to Eddie Deen’s Ranch in Downtown Dallas today with one common thought – PC gaming. [H]ard|OCP and AMD teamed up to host a lavish event they called the FX GamExperience. The event was put together to give gamers (pros to noobs) a chance to check out the newest hardware from AMD and all the other co-sponsors. In fact the list of co-sponsors is very impressive with names such as – Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, Corsair, Antec, Patriot, Sapphire, Diamond, Zotac and Western Digital.

I was very heavily involved in organizing this event for most of the two months preceding it and spent a large amount of time on stage giving out prizes to random lucky attendees during the event itself. It’s a nice rush being on stage giving out prizes to 500 screaming gamers, and I guess the only thing more exciting is being one of the many winners of some gaming gear. Of course putting on such a show isn’t easy and the night before we put in a solid 15 hours getting everything ready as chronicled here. The event was produced by Vibrating Brain

Highlights of the event included: tournaments for Battlefield 3 (our PC Game of the year for 2011), Blacklight Retribution and Firefall, two 30 foot Eyefinity 1080p gaming screens, sponsor breakout sessions, stage giveaways (over $60K of prizes were given away during the day), and the AMD Reality Check (think Pepsi Challenge for gaming CPU’s). Fox Spotlight even gave us 300 passes to their upcoming Navy SEALs action movie Act Of Valor to give away to attendees. Further coverage of the event was provided by Legit Reviews and PC Perspective and of course the event’s Facebook page is full of posts and pictures from the event.
Verdict: A great time was had by all and we leave you with some pictures and a video of the banana eating contest as seen from on stage.
