October 12 2021 – I just went back to look at an article we wrote 6 years which highlighted the “Top 10 Indie Bands of 2015“. Being a Toronto based site almost all the bands/artists we highlighted were killing the local scene and dominated the Queen Street live venues. Unfortunately hardly any of those bands we loved then are still in existence. Notice the words “hardly any”, because we recently received a notification that SATE had a brand new video and album coming very soon. This is great news as killer music is still being produced even during the pandemic challenges.
What we wrote in 2015 was ” SATE first got on our radar when we heard her new song Warrior. Hard driving, bluesy riffs and incredibly powerful vocals. Finally some #RealRock. SATE was a powerhouse live and her band was incredibly tight. “
Upon first listen of Nobody the word we used “powerhouse” is as true as ever but this time with even more of a punkier raw edge than before. The song features The OBGMs (a Toronto based punk band – see the connection?)
This is a killer video that deserves a couple of minutes of your attention, and if you dig this #RealRock sound, keep posted for info on the new album.
SATE had this to say “The saying is, you can’t judge a book by its cover. We all desire to be important, taken seriously, and especially honoured by others for the strength and unique majick that we have to offer to the world. There have been many times in my life where I have felt passed over, worthless or invisible to certain people. I’m a true believer that no one is above me, nor is anyone below me. I wrote Nobody, to remind me of this belief in the times when I faltered. I wrote this to remind me to meet others with an undefended heart, full of compassion, but also to stand strong in my worth and all I had to offer. Not to get caught up in what others have to say about me or what I may feel that they might perceive of me, but to be my full unique and divinely designed Self.”
