June 21, 2017 – Internationally acclaimed Cavalia is touring the globe with its newest production Odysseo. The 2-hour theatrical experience, housed under a 125-foot White Big Top opened today in Mississauga. Click here to get tickets.
Montrealer Normand Latourelle is the creative force behind Cavalia with strong support from his two sons and business partner. Odysseo is Cavalia’s second production and features the world’s biggest stage where 60 horses and 50 artists take the audience to a world of dreams where together they can discover some of Earth’s most unforgettable landscapes. In an unforgettable final scene, 150,000 litres of recycled water fills the stage and where horses and their riders frolic with delight.
Normand and his team invited T-Mak World to participate in an in-depth tour of the Odysseo village that included wardrobe/makeup, the warm-up tent where riders rehearse with the horses before and after the show, and the climate-controlled stable tent.
Touring the world with 60 horses and a large team is a complex (and expensive) operation, one in which Normand and his team are seasoned experts. For example, it takes no less than 10 days to set up the White Big Top – the size of a CFL football field – which includes an above stage technical grid capable of supporting 80 tons of equipment including a full-sized merry-go-round. During the set up phase, the horses are officially on vacation. They are sent to a luxurious horse farm where the horses take a break both mentally and physically. And if a tour stop is 8 hours or more away by road, the team will charter a 747 to transport all 60 horses to their next destination.
Odysseo is absolute magic. It is a feast for the senses and unlike any theatrical production in existence. The show runs from now till July 16th. To learn more and to buy your tickets, visit https://cavalia.com/mississauga
