We had a chance to catch up with Guitarist James Cole (and professional car driver!!) and find out a bit about the show.
Here is how it went down:
T-Mak Word: James please tell us about the concept behind the show?
James Cole: My relationship with CRS (The Classic Rock Show) started many years ago. CRS used to be a side project for the band Brit Floyd. It became apparent that Brit Floyd was going from strength to strength meaning there wasn’t the time for some of the original members to focus on the show. I took over 3 years ago. I have the fun job of choosing the songs, tour ideas, etc… Its such a challenge but great fun!
I always try and use the analogy of an orchestra, we are a group of respectful musicians trying our best to perform these songs with a level of detail not done before.
T-Mak Word: Yea we have seen Brit Floyd many times and they have a huge following here. This means that CRS will have excellent production value I am sure. Hey James what is the most fun song to play and why?
James Cole: Ah thats a very difficult question as it changes night to night depending on the audience reaction to certain songs. If an audience are feeling a specific song it makes it so fun to play! There are a lot of challenging songs in this show… The duel guitar solo in Free Bird is certainly an enjoyable moment!
T-Mak Word: Top three rock bands of all time in your opinion?
James Cole: The Beatles (I’m from Liverpool…), Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. Can I have another 3 choices please…?
T-Mak Word: Haha, no kidding it sure is hard just to keep it to three, but your answer clearly shows great taste. We can’t wait to check out the show in Canada, what can you tell us about audience reaction you expect here?
James Cole: The most exciting part of this years tour is we have made a deliberate effort to perform much more variety of bands than ever before. The classic rock genre is so huge now there is so much choice! I think we have a fantastic set which includes AC/DC all the way to ZZ Top and everything in between.
We want the audience to be able to close their eyes and be taken back to the 1st time they heard these songs on record or on the radio. If we can do that I’ll be very happy!!
To celebrate The Classic Rock Show A to Z of Rock invasion we have 2 tickets to give away for the Burlington show (Saturday February 25 2017) and 2 more tickets for the Hamilton show (Saturday February 25 2017).
