Typically, in the month of February Torontonians get cheated by abbreviated sunlight, wind chill nonsense and old man winter wielding his wintry might for the next twenty-eight of them. That being the reality The Toronto Black Film Festival (“TBFF”) has a cinematic solution to keep the film fires burning and that old man at bay for at least 6 of them (February 10th – 15th). With its mission dedicated to giving a platform for unique voices, themes and experiences, informed audiences can now engage in rare, uncommon and stand-alone stories from around the world.
The TBFF was created in 2013 by the Fabienne Colas Foundation (“FCF”), a not-for-profit, professional, artistic organization dedicated to promoting Cinema, Art and Culture in Canada and abroad. Revolutionizing the cinema experience and pushing boundaries by reaching new markets and mediums with compelling thought provoking narratives is FCF’s mandate. The TBFF is now flourishing within the footprint of FCF’s long standing and very successful Montreal International Black Film Festival (MIBFF). Opening and Closing Night Galas, Hollywood Tributes, Panel Discussions along with International, Canadian and Toronto premieres all await you at this year’s TBFF.
