Mar 5 2015 – 94.9 The Rock presented a Generation Next Live showcase at the Phoenix Concert Theatre on March 5. T-Mak World are big supporters of 94.9 The Rock because 94.9 supports up and coming Canadian bands. The March 5th show was the third of the series and featured The Rathburns, The Mohrs, Dead Projectionists and Beautiful Nothing. The whole 94.9 team were on hand including Program Director Doug Elliot, the morning show team of Craig Venn, Mike Luck and Natalie MC’d the event with LoriAnn and local radio icon, and Generation Next Live curator, Lee Eckley was broadcasting from the front room.
The Rathburns where the headliners and did not disappoint anyone who braved the freezing cold on this Thursday night. They had the Phoenix on fire! The Rathurns put on a wicked show of blues garage rock that we at T-Mak World never get tired of. Frances Rose is an intense lead singer who has you mesmerized with her high voltage delivery. The rhythm section (Erik Kolomayz, bass, Matt Burdon, drums) are tight and provide a solid foundation for Joey Virgilio (guitar) to deliver riffs upon riffs that just knock you on your ass! Killer band!
The Mohrs put on an energetic show that seemed to rock the Phoenix to its core. The band had the audience gyrating to the power of the music they were playing. This young band who plays with the maturity of a veteran band who has been on the music scene for years! highly recommend catching this band at your first opportunity. The Dead Projectionists also impressed, especially the lively opening song and we’re looking forward to seeing them again soon.
