On December 5 2014 the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)’s best rock radio station sparked a showcase concert that this city has been sorely missing. Named Unsilent Night the concept was simple bring 6 bands together for a night of rock and roll hosted by the amazing 94.9 The Rock. 94.9 Unsilent Night 2014 featured One Bad Son, Last Bullet, James Black, Breached, Secret Broadcast and The Rathburns. The venue was The Phoenix Concert Theater that lately has been focusing on lots of great rock shows and although we havent been much there in the last decade in 2014 we were there for quite a few gigs.
We present a special video review/recap of the night below:
We are very familiar with The Rathburns, Last Bullet and One Bad Son and we welcomed the chance to reacquaint ourselves with the other three bands. The Rathburns warmed up the night with an electrified performance that is rare for a band on such an early slot. These four garage blues rockers were going at it as if it was midnight. Last Bullet kept on elevating their game in the last few years and today they continued with their high voltage performance that establishes them as a force to be reckoned with. One Bad Son are no strangers to T-Mak World – we have declared their 2014 release entitled Black Buffalo our number 2 album of 2014 (only behind Pink Floyd) and we consider it a sin to miss OBS when they play Toronto.
Aside from the bands we are familiar with we were very impressed with Breached and really need to get into this band alot more. James Black and Secret Broadcast also delivered strong sets for fans of their music.
The night was an incredible event and one that we hope continues as an annual tradition in Toronto. We leave you with a ton of pictures of the night. Enjoy.
