September 17 2014 – What is better than seeing a kick ass band at a hot sweaty rock bar? How about seeing two kick ass bands at a hot sweaty rock bar! Special shout out to members of Stone River and TimeGiant being out to support other rock bands in town. We really do love seeing bands support bands.
Last Bullet stormed Cherry Cola’s in a show that took our appreciation for the band to a higher level. These guys are hard working and we often see them around town handing out their CD’s in a grassroots way – talking to rock fans one by one. Tonight they showed that their high energy show is capable of major entertainment value – part Motley Crue, part Black Sabbath in their delivery. The band consists of Bryan Fontez, Brenden Armstrong, Michael Silva, Will Shannon, Chris Galaz. If you want to see the best guitar face in town check out Armstrong when he gets in the zone, and watch Fontez take over the stage and make it his bitch. Definitely catch Last Bullet gang, they are the real rock deal.
Savanah took over the stage and picked up steam like nobody’s business. Guitarist J.C. Sandoval took a lot of effort to get the word out about this show by contacting and inviting T-Mak World and we thank him for the invite. Where as Last Bullet is a flurry of raw rock and roll, Savanah is much more brooding and deliberate band in their delivery. The grunge infused setlist saw singer Arjun Thomas deliver a very compelling performance with his haunting and powerful voice. Savanah is a band that we have only seen twice but were very impressed both times and like Last Bullet we consider them some of the best real rock coming out of Toronto. Mark Rynkun and George Nikolov completed the lineup.
Tonight was an incredible night of what we like to label as #RealRock and there was no pretentious hipster alt-folk or post-punk or any shit with a dash in it anywhere close to the venue. Thank you Savanah and Last Bullet for a very memorable rock night! Next up for us is The Rockpile East on September 20th for TimeGiant and Druckfarben – see you there.
