May 15 2014 – As music lovers, and in particular classic rock from the likes of Zeppelin, Floyd, Rush, Black Sabbath, Van Halen, etc it should be no surprise that vinyl is our preferred format. The pure joy of holding that nice big album cover and flipping a record over evokes childhood memories of a simpler world. We have 5 pairs of tickets to give away to what is surely one of the best places to stock up on records (and CD’s, DVD’s, Memorabilia, etc).

We had a chance to speak to the event’s organizer Doug Brown and here is what he had to tell us.
1) We keep hearing about the vinyl revival. In your experience is it real or marketing hype?
It’s a bit of both. This said, I’m happy with the marketing hype. It’s important for people to know the power and quality of music on vinyl, and all press can help. I know there is definitely a resurgence based on the amount of people I see out at record shops, shows, and flea markets. The more the merrier!
2) How many vendors will be at the upcoming show and what musical genres will be represented?
I’m proud to say that everything will be represented. Jazz, Funk, Soul, Rock, Metal, Hip Hop.. you name it. I have booked 47 tables of pure vinyl. I also will be having CD’s, Music DVDs, and memorabilia represented.
3) You have an insane Metallica collection. What are your top 3 prized possessions?
Having collected Metallica for most of my life, it’s tough to narrow it down. Let’s say if my house was on fire, and I could only grab three it would be…
– Load Test Pressings – Zimbabwe Pressing
– Jump In The Fire 12″ – Uncut Promo Test Pressing
-Black Album Cassette (Well it doesn’t have much value, it was my first cassette with endless sentimental value.)
4) Let’s say someone wanted to buy all 9 Led Zeppelin studio albums in very good condition. Do you think they will be able to find them at the show and how much should they expect to pay for all 9?
I would say that if they arrived early, they should be able to find all Zeppelin albums. For good, clean Zeppelin albums -$15-$20 would be a good price. This said, the price can go up based on pressing and collectivity, and down based on condition. The good thing about record shows is that most dealers encourage the customer to take the albums out and check condition. I would never buy an album without checking condition.
5) Doug we look forward to checking out the show. Any tips or strategies for people that plan on coming to the show?
Come early. The saying ‘the early bird gets the worm’ definitely applies to records. I would also suggest looking at every table. You never know what you would find in that last crate you dig through.
