Sony Canada had a show for their dealers to highlight their product line for the year. We were lucky enough to among the other droolers, and we saw some of the coolest tech ever at the Sony Dealer Show 2014 in Toronto Canada. Of the greatest excitement were the new Alpha full frame cameras (think SLR capabilities in a point and shoot) and the Hi-Res Audio products (think HD audio). We were able to spend some time at the show and below are many images of what we were impressed with.
Sony has put a tremendous push into Hi-Res Audio and not only did we see the whole product line we were given a demo in a listening room that really made the point about the details in Hi-Res Audio. The products are essentially DAC (Digital to Analog Converters) and the goal is to reproduce the sound that musicians and producers achieve in their recording studios. With MP3’s and other similar formats the audio gets compressed to save space and in theory this reduces sound quality. The demos were very impressive but the price range for the products are still making them prohibitive for mainstream users. The other similar product in this area you may have heard about is Neil Young’s PONO music player.
