January 30, 2014 – Fort Langley BC – The birth place of WE HUNT BUFFALO!
All the bands we talk to are asked similar questions to each other so we can get to know them better. The description on the WE HUNT BUFFALO`s website reads: Rock guitar and synth sounds, seeped in a copious amount of fuzz.
Hey WE HUNT BUFFALO, thanks for taking the time out to talk to us. Let’s start off with the obligatory introductions. Who’s in the band and what instrument does everyone rock?
Ryan Forsythe – Vocals/Guitar and Synth Sounds/Bari Sax
Brendan Simpson – Bass/Vocals
Brandon Carter – Drums/Vocals
How about the history of the band, when did you get started and how did it happen?
We all hail from Fort Langley and Brandon and I (Ryan) started the band about 10 years ago. We weren’t known as WE HUNT BUFFALO back then and we had another member as well, but about 6 years ago Brendan join us and about 3 years ago we changed our sound to what you are hearing now.
Who are some of your musical influences?
Oh wow, well we are into the stoner rock scene. We are really big fans of band out of Sweden called Truckfighters and Queens of the Stone Age. Grew up listening to Deep Purple, Neil Young, and Led Zeppelin of course.
So based on the above how would you describe your music to someone that has never heard it?
Well…it`s kind of tough to describe your own music, but I guess we would say fuzzy and loud!
What does 2014 have in store for WE HUNT BUFFALO?
We are hoping to tour throughout the year and we are hoping to do some touring in the states as well. We are also planning to get back to the studio and do a full album as a follow up to our EP that we released late last year.
What would be a top 10 album list for WE HUNT BUFFALO?
Well that`s a tough question there are so many good albums out there, but off the top of our heads and in no particular order we would say:
Neil Young – On the Beach
Led Zeppelin – 3 and 4
Pink Floyd – Meddle
King Crimson – In the Court of the Crimson King
Tool – Aenima (Brandon Carter)
Queen of the Stone Age`s first album
Sandrider – Godhead
Truckfighters – Gravity x
Nirvana – Never Mind
Where can we buy your tunes?
Our music is available on vinyl, through iTunes and bandcamp.
Thanks so much to WE HUNT BUFFALO. We hope that you can see them live.
