January 31, 2014-Back in November of 2013 we reviewed the new EP by We Hunt Buffalo (WHB) called Blood from a Stone. Well, the boys were in town and I was lucky enough to catch them at the Horseshoe Tavern last night.
The band was on fire right from the opening notes of the title track from their latest EP called Blood from a Stone, and audience’s response was to jump up and rush the stage all the while cheering the band on!
We Hunt Buffalo have been around since about 2004. However, this trio of musicians have been performing together for 6 years.
The band has an electric energy on stage and the power of their music along with this energy makes them an exciting act to watch.
Ryan Forsythe is an accomplished guitarist and his voice is perfect for the sound of the band — at times gritty, and at times strikingly melodic.
Bassist Brendan Simpson has a monstrous voice and his wails are ear-shattering! His performances on the bass are not to be missed.
Percussionist Brandon Carter keeps everyone in line with his great timing. His playing is strong, and the powerful hits of the skins feel like they are going right through you!
This is an up-and-coming band and the more exposure they gain the more popular they will become. Listen to their “fuzzy and loud” music on their webpage: wehuntbuffalo.com
