Dec 18, 2013 – Today we are reviewing Jacob Moon’s latest album, Fascination. It is a collection of covers from Rush, Radiohead, Yes, Marillion, and a number of others, along with two original songs. This album is a strong one, and Jacob Moon’s exciting takes on rock classics are powerful and extremely well done. He makes each song his own in fresh new ways, morphing old classics into new hits.
The real treat, however, lies in listening to his original compositions. “Is That All You Got” and “Revelation” are the crowning jewels in an album of gold. “Is That All You Got” is one of the harder songs on the album, with a heavier guitar line and an upbeat pace. It is slightly reminiscent of Rush’s less prog-rock songs — and just like Rush, this song rocks!
“Revelation” is perhaps my favourite. It’s mellow without being soporific, and has a wonderful melody. The song seems to carry you along on with it, and Moon’s acoustic guitar solos are something to marvel at, in their great technical beauty. It’s sure to become a favourite to everyone who hears it.
Verdict: 4 out of 5 – Fascination is smooth and easy to listen to, with an almost jazzy flair. A great work from the creative mind of Jacob Moon.
