Sep 7 2013 – Well this is the third time I have reviewed Ozone Baby since May of this year and I have to say; this band doesn’t disappoint! If you are a fan of Led Zeppelin, then you would be a fan of Ozone Baby. They simply put on an outstanding show every time! Their performance is tight, sharp, and bang on, note for note. Ozone Baby gives you everything that you remember from Zeppelin studio albums and their live shows.
The first time I reviewed Ozone Baby, I was in awe of what I had just witnessed.
The second time, I provided an in-depth review of each song performed.
This time, I will keep it simple and provide you an overview of key highlights from this performance.
Ozone Baby was playing at the Roc’ n Doc’s during Mississauga’s Southside Shuffle Jazz & Blues Festival (September 6 through 8). This allowed the audience to range in age from 10 year olds to us middle-aged people who actually experienced the 70’s as it happened.
Ozone Baby also gave everyone in the audience a special treat during this performance as they played We’re Gonna Groove for the first time and of course they nailed it!
As usual, Phil Naro was his dynamite self. This Emmy award winner, internationally acclaimed composer, singer, guitar player, songwriter and producer provided a spectacular vocal performance on a Saturday afternoon. His vocal range never ceases to amaze and his ability to get the audience going is unparalleled.
Hammer of the Gods? Well Jesus, Glenn Nash was so pounding on the drums it felt as if each hit of the skins were going right through me!
Enzo Lapadula provided another super performance on the bass and keyboards. Lapadula was his usual best and he makes each song appear effortless.
I don’t know what else to say about Steve Major. He has every Jimmy Page riff down pat! The power chords, the solos, are simply outstanding! If you are a fan of not only Jimmy Page but of the guitar, then you will be in for a real treat when you watch Major in action!
Each member of Ozone Baby are accomplished musicians who make every Zeppelin song performed appear effortless! They will make you fall in love with Led Zeppelin’s great songs all over again.If you have never seen Ozone Baby, you really are missing out on something special.
