July 1 2013 – Fans of the band Garbage will be happy to know that Eagle Rock Entertainment has released a DVD and a Blu-ray edition of a concert film of the band entitled One Mile High … Live.
The occasion for the DVD is the return of the band after a 7 year hiatus for a tour and a new album entitled “Not Your Kind of People”. The reason the DVD is called One Mile High is that it is filmed in (you guessed it) Denver Colorado at the Ogden Theatre.
The release has of course all the classic hits: “Stupid Girl”, “#1 Crush”, “Special”, “I Think I’m Paranoid”, “Push It”, “Why Do You Love Me”, “Shut Your Mouth”, “Blood For Poppies”, “Milk”, “Only Happy When It Rains” and many more. The DVD/Blu-Ray contains cool bonus features such as the band warming up before the show and music videos for Big Bright World and Blood For Poppies.
Charismatic singer Shirley Manson leads from the front propelled by the twin guitars of Steve Marker and Duke Erikson and the powerhouse drumming of Butch Vig with Eric Avery (Janes Addiction, NIN) providing bass guitar for the live shows.
The DVD shows the band playing tight and aggressive. Not only did they deliver hit after the hit to a rabid audience they rolled out some of the new tunes and as expected the reaction was not quite the same but was very respectable. A 7 year hiatus really did the band wonders as they were at the top of their game during the recording of this video.
Verdict: A definative must buy for fans of Garbage. And just in case you forgot Shirley Manson really does rock!
