June 8 2013 – We just got word of a Greek Film Festival that is running at The Danforth Music Hall. The cool thing is that it is free, so get out there and check it out! All movies will have English subtitles. As a Greek myself this film festival holds special appeal. Below is the release we received.
We are three weeks away from the Greek Film Retrospective of Toronto’s third year, which we fittingly named TRILOGY. By Sunday June 23rd we will have endeavored to bring to Toronto free screenings of 23 great films from Greece.
We welcome all of you to the Danforth Music Hall on June 22nd and June 23rd, where you can build on your experience of the first two years or finally invest in this entertaining event.
Most of the films we have shown were made decades earlier. Many of the actors and directors and screenwriters have left us, but what they have left behind are true time capsules of Greece. Many of these films are special for one undeniable truth; their authenticity.
All of us are still enthralled with the past: and not just our own, but a greater past. Greece has arguably one of the greatest histories of any nation on earth. If this is true, then the Greek Film Retrospective of Toronto has fulfilled its’ purpose of shining light on some rare and brilliant films.
We hope to see you on the legendary Greektown on the Danforth for two days and nights on June 22nd and 23rd. Please pass this message along to you family friend and coworkers, as we need your help to spread the word. (All films in Greek with English Subtitles, except for Z, in French with Eng subtitles.)
