June 20 2013 – Last weekend while we were deep in our NXNE coverage we could not miss a chance to see one of our Top 10 Indie Bands of 2013 playing a big festival stage. We spent many hours crammed in the dark bars of Toronto but being able to see TimeGiant play a major festival stage was a pleasant change of pace. The big stage with the big lights and sound is made for a dynamic band such as TimeGiant and lead singer Tyrone Buccione was in his natural element. The band played through all their hits but also played a Queen and a Led Zeppelin cover to entertain the over 1000 people hanging around on the Saturday night performance. Drummer Charlie McKittrick dazzled with his ground shattering drum solo which keeps getting better and stronger every time we see it. Bassist Pat Wilken and Guitarist Ryan Watson seemed to be born for the big stage and were blasting out the good hard rock that the audience was loving. They were without a doubt an excellent addition to the festival and we hope they get invited again next year. The band ended their set with their monumental closing style that saw Buccione flying off speakers and flailing all over the ground – the best closing routine of any Indie band we have ever seen! The band took the opportunity to announce that their new CD is coming very soon and we can’t wait to hear it.
We have many videos from the performances on our YouTube channel which is here, but here is one video to wet your appetite for real rock.
