May 26 2013 – T-Mak World has reviewed the last three 360 Screenings; The Fight Club, 28 Days Later, and Amelie. For the first time ever the one off experience will have multiple showings, read on for more info.
Waiting with bated breath for the fifth installment of the 360 Screenings experience doesn’t come easy. Since their first immersive screening in 2012, the creative genesis of Co-founder / Artistic Producer, Ned Loach with his Loachian sensibilities and, Co-founder / Artistic Director, Robert Gontier with his Gontierian aesthetics have established a new feeding frenzy on Toronto’s film landscape. Since their first screening in May 2012 with Ghost, their tried, tested and true formula has redefined Toronto cinema.
A selection of Toronto’s historic venues reinterpreted by Lead Designer, Andy Miller not only reflects the key talking points of the films but reconnects Torontonians to a long forgotten historical heritage in a fresh and unique way. From the Burroughes, to the Fermenting Cellar at the Distillery District, to the Artscape Wychwood Barns and places in between, 360 Screenings gives patrons that yesteryear experience like no other. As you enter these historic enclaves actors, industrial props, live music, videos, and audio helps redefine the space.
It is not uncommon to experience a no holds barred cage match pumping your adrenalin in Fight Club. Or a hidden, chained up, snarling and infected soldier lunging at you in 28 Days Later. Or French inspired musicians in period costumes playing romantic music for you in Amelie. Tie in free fresh baguettes, local Artisan cheeses and cured meats for sale with a selection of wines from Creekside Estates Winery and beer from Steam Whistle Brewery to quench your refined palate and your experience is complete. But there’s a catch.
Just like peeling back the layers of a good Christopher Nolan (Inception) thriller, 360 Screenings doesn’t reveal the venue until 24 hours before the event and never reveals the film until after the interactive experiences. The interactive experiences are your keys to decoding the film. And that is the essence of 360 Screenings.
So why are you waiting ?
Step in . . . decipher the clues . . . and solve the mystery all around you.
