Troy Arseneault and Ryan MacDonald of Alert The Medic |
February 23, 2013 – One of our Top 10 Indie Bands of 2012, Halifax’s rising stars, Alert The Medic returned to Toronto to play a show at The Horseshoe on Thursday night. The band used the opportunity to showcase a lot of new material. Unlike their November show at The Hideout which featured just one new song, Cut, Copy and Paste, this show was predominantly new songs. The phenomenal album We, The Weapon didn’t make an appearance until about five songs in, when they played the edgy closing track The Wound That Won’t Heal. Also on the set list from We, The Weapon was the ballad The Weatherman (Pt. 2) and of course, Hey Kid, To The Back Of The Line. The new material will surely please fans as it continues in the tradition of great guitar riffs and strong melodies. Overall, it was a pretty heavy and loud set with Matt Campbell’s thunderous bass not just heard, but felt throughout the venue. With a full set’s worth of new material ready, hopefully there’ll be a new CD out in the not too distant future.

It’s quite a commitment to play in Ontario. It was a 26 hour drive through snowy conditions to get here but their growing fan base here definitely appreciated it. You can follow them on twitter at @alertthemedic.
