December 1, 2012 – April Wine played the 100th Grey Cup Festival in Toronto on November 24th on a bill with Kim Mitchell and Big Sugar. April Wine may have been the opener but the crowd made sure they got out for the early 7:30 pm start time.

Since T-MAK World reviewed April Wine back in April of this year (here), where they played a more extended set, this will be brief. As the openers, the band was limited to about an hour. Myles Goodwyn and April Wine were hit making machines back in the day. And they played most of the biggest ones.

The band sounded great but the vocals were a little flat at times. April Wine was one of biggest bands in Canada during the 70’s and early 80’s, but now when one thinks of April Wine one can’t help but think of their best song, Rock n’ Roll is a Vicious Game, released 34 years ago, which sadly was left off the set list.
He opened up his heart to us, he gave us what he could
We sympathized and harmonized, he made us all feel good
But it’s funny how those things can change, and time can pass us by
Songs that moved us so easily, no longer make us cry
Now isn’t it a pity, isn’t it a shame
No one ever warned the boy
Rock n’ roll is a vicious game
