YOUNG LIONS MUSIC CLUB ANNOUNCES:
THE SHINING – THE PARTY
A FILM FEST AFTER PARTY THEMED & INSPIRED BY THE FILM
Aug 26 2012 – We just got word about this awesome party on September 7th. Never lacking creativity, the Young Lions Music Club, are throwing down a Shining themed party featuring 2 live bands and DJ set. This one will be one that will leave Toronto buzzing for ages. See you there!
Just as the city prepares to enter into its annual film-fest frenzy, one event – taking place at a secret location – promises to re-create and reinterpret the look and feel of perhaps the most spectacularly bone-chilling film ever made.
The Shining, the classic horror novel written by Stephen King and made for film by Stanley Kubrick, will be brought to life in party form – featuring art installations, murals, live music acts selected to suit the theme, and a DJ spinning thematic cuts aimed to make attendees move their feet all-the-while hoping Jack Nicholson’s deranged character isn’t waiting for them by the bar.
The one-of-a-kind event is the work of Young Lions Music Club, a Toronto-based music marketing agency that has been recently featured in BlogTO and The Grid. Having created a “cult-like following” from a string of events including their annual Live in Bellwoods NXNE music series and plenty of others.
The night features local indie rock & pop buzz acts Absolutely Free and ALX. The latter, lead by quirky Toronto songstress Allie Hughes, is coming off a much-hyped performance last month at Guelph’s Hillside Festival, and annual event credited with helping launch the careers of Arcade Fire, The Sheepdogs, Arkells, and Metric, amongst others.
The venue? Room 237 of Toronto’s own Overlook Hotel – a one-night only venue, accessible only via the back alley on the south-east corner of College & Bathurst (behind Sneaky Dee’s).
The Kubrick Collection vol I: The Shining 10pm, September 7, 2012 – “The Overlook Hotel”
(Entrance in alley behind southeast corner of College & Bathurst). $10.
