December 20 2104 – We like to reflect on the year with our year end charts. We looked at our Top 10 Movies of 2014 first and you can read that here. We then focused on our Top 10 Rock Albums of the year. Toronto’s best concert venues was then presented here. Today we look at our YouTube channel and present our Top 10 YouTube Videos of 2014 in terms of views.
The T-Mak World YouTube channel has 239 videos uploaded with over 1.6 million views so far and we have tons of our favorite indie bands featured on it, but it should not be any surprise to anyone its the big bands that get all the views. In fact 6 out of the top 10 are Fleetwood Mac and Pink Floyd related. Here we present the videos people watched the most in 2014 on our YouTube channel in reverse order:
10. Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience performing Moby Dick
This video was recorded in 2010 at Toronto’s Sony Centre for the Performing Arts and features a legendary video duet of John Bonham and his son Jason Bonham rocking out Led Zeppelin’s Moby Dick.
9. Saga performing How Long
Saga’s 20/20 Tour in 2013 stopped at Toronto’s The Sound Academy and How Long was our 9th most watched YouTube video in 2014. This phenomenal performance from one of my favorite bands was a highlight of the show and I personally still watch this one quite a lot.
8. Greektown celebrations after World Cup 2014 win
The only non-musical entry on this year’s top 10 list. This one was right after Greece knocked out Nigeria in the World Cup of 2014 and Danforth Ave. was the home of celebrations. This video was picked up by sports and news websites in Greece and got lots of play there. As a Greek I love seeing this video get some good views!
7. Destroyer (KISS tribute band) performing Love Gun
This is a bit of surprising entry but we love it being here! A cover band placed on our top 10 list and for good reason, Destroyer rocked out a killer version of KISS’s Love Gun at The Rockpile.
6. Stevie Nicks full interview
Stevie Nicks came to Toronto to premiere her movie In My Dreams and she was in the audience for a question and answer session which we captured in it’s entirety. This is the video that people watched for the longest time on our channel.
5. Roger Waters (with David Gilmour) performing Comfortably Numb
This video is our number one viewed video of all time and our 5th most watched in 2014. What can I say about this – it is the best concert going experience of my life and I was able to capture it. David Gilmour joined Roger Waters on stage in London England to perform Comfortably Numb.
4. Roger Waters interview
This video was taken right after the world premiere of Roger Water’s The Wall at the Toronto International Film Festival. We were front row right in front of Waters and captured the full Question and Answer session from that night. Best of all Waters signed our The Wall album right after this!
3. Fleetwood Mac performing World Turning and Mick Fleetwood drum solo
One comment left on this video sums it all up “Holy crap, were you sitting on the stage?! Great video!” While I wasnt actually on the stage this video was recorded front row center in Newark New Jersey and my elbows and camera were on the stage (there were no barriers between the seats and the stage). The best view ever produced our 3rd most watched video of the year.
2. Fleetwood Mac performing The Chain
This video was shot at the beginning of 2014 at a private party in Las Vegas in which Fleetwood Mac was the musical guest! Once in a lifetime chance and the video of The Chain captured our second most viewed spot of the year.
1. Roger Waters at world premiere of The Wall
This video was at the Toronto International Film Festival where the world premiere of Roger Waters The Wall happened. This is our number one viewed video of the year and it happened for a very simple reason – Roger Waters tweeted and put a story on his Facebook page with a link to this video! Thanks Rog ;-)
