August 13, 2013 – Brand Manager for Steam Whistle Brewery and Event Organizer for the Second Annual Roundhouse Craft Beer Festival, Tim McLaughlin couldn’t have been more delighted at this year’s turnout and T-MAK World was there. Read our interview with McLaughlin here.
The weekend beer festival hit the trifecta of Ontario craft beers, gourmet food trucks and the musical stylings of one of T-Mak World’s favorite indie bands, The Honeyrunners.
Taking place at Roundhouse Park in the heart of downtown Toronto, the festival over delivered for craft beer aficionados and food truck foodies alike. The numbers tell the story with draft taps in a constant pour and deep lines at each food truck. In T-MAK World’s tireless and never-ending quest to inform its readership, the team undertook to sample many of the beers and have provided their very unscientific first annual T-MAK World Craft Beer Review from this year’s festival. The philosophy of host Steam Whistle is to do one thing really, really well and, well, we really, really know and love Steam Whistle. It’s our go-to beer of choice when we’re out and about (which is kinda all the time), so we didn’t feel the need to sample it. We’re betting you’re pretty familiar with Steam Whistle too.
With too many food choices from which to pair the Artisan beer offerings, the very juicy and tender classic Smoked Brisket Sandwich from the Hogtown Smoke Food Truck was the perfect compliment.

Verdict: Our winners for BEST OF T-MAK WORLD craft beers are Black Oak Brewing Company’s 10 Bitter Years 8% Double IPA, Amsterdam Brewery’s Boneshaker IPA and of course our usual favorite Steam Whistle Pilsner. Aside from the actual beer we must give kudos to Steam Whistle for putting together such an amazing event.
