July 8 2013 – Imagine this if you will – the summer solstice (and thus the longest day of the year), a full moon (a day before the much hyped supermoon), clear skies, 5000 music lovers, an open field amphitheater, a million dollar laser and light show, 3 hours of Pink Floyd… Yes this unlikely combination of factors were all aligned on June 21 2013 in Safari Niagara (in a “town” called Stevensville which is between Niagara Falls and Fort Erie).
Good luck finding a more proper setting for a glorious Pink Floyd Show. Comfortably Numb – Canada’s Pink Floyd Show made the trek from Ottawa to blow away the audience tonight. The band was in Toronto in February to play three sets at The Opera House and our glowing review of that 5 star performance is here.
If you want full details on that performance we urge you to read that review but our conclusion tells it all:
“Verdict: 5+ out of 5. It sounds silly to give more than maximum marks but that is how good this show is. The surreal journey that Comfortably Numb took us on was emotional, raw and rewarding. AK is a machine and if Nick Mason and Roger Waters ever needed a guitarist to play with them AK will be the prime candidate. This show is virtually guaranteed to be on our year end Top Concerts of 2013 list. My only complaint is that Comfortably Numb does not come to Toronto often enough. “
AK is the singer and the lead guitarist of Comfortably Numb and without a doubt one of the most talented musicians T-Mak World has ever covered. The rest of the band are also phenomenal and a perfect complement to AK – they are: Solveig Keshavjee – Keyboard/Vocals, Ahenk Ozakpinar – Bass, Matt Babineau – Drums, Charles McInnis – Keyboard/Organ.
Safari Niagara proved to be a perfect venue for a show of Comfortably Numb’s complexity and deepness. Some of the audience went to the upper slopes of the amphitheater setup and sat on the grass and enjoyed the laser show emitting from the stage, but the vast majority was standing around the stage. Needless to say they were totally blown away with how good Comfortably Numb was. The set consisted of cuts from Dark Side of The Moon, Animals, Wish You Were Here and The Wall with a couple of older cuts. With such incredible tunes it is impossible to pick highlights – the whole show rocked and an outdoor venue is where music like this belongs!
Verdict: 5 out of 5 – Absolutely perfect set of circumstances for a great night out!
